Drought is a major natural hazard that impacts agriculture, the environment, and socio-economic conditions. In 2018 2019, Europe experienced severe drought due to below average precipitation high temperatures. stress affects moisture content structure of agricultural crops can result in lower yields. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) observations are sensitive dielectric geometric characteristics underlying soils. This study uses data from ESA’s Sentinel-1 SAR satellite investigate influence on arable Netherlands, its regional variability impact water management decisions crop development. VV, VH VH/VV backscatter used quantify spatio-temporal dynamics parcels response drought. Results show VV values 1 2 dB for during compared 2017. addition, growth season indicated by cross-ratio (CR, VH/VV) maize onion shorter year. Differences irrigation restrictions observed parcels.
